Following a competitive tender process Acumen Projects were awarded the Mechanical and Plumbing Services at Eastwood Village Primary School by Wildgoose Construction, Derbyshire. The site is located on Eldon Road in Eastwood, Rotherham. This project is the first completely new build primary school built in Rotherham for 20 years and hopes are that it will bring the community together with capacity for 315 pupils and a 44 place nursery.
Built on stilts in a flood risk area, the build is a standalone 2 storey school with an undercroft car park and play areas of traditional steel frame, piled foundations with precast concrete floors and lightweight internal and external walls.
The building has a distinctive modern architectural look with black and white external walls and orange tresper / eternit cladding. This theme is carried into the design within the building.
Run as an academy by the Central Learning Partnership Trust it is hopeful that this school will act as a much needed focus bringing together the local communities in a positive way.
